winemaker's notes:

Great wine is meant to be savored with family and friends. This belief is at the heart of Silver Oak Cellars, where they have crafted extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignon for over 35 years. Designed to be deliciously drinkable from the day it is released, Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon grows more supple and luxurious over time. An extended aging process - first in barrel, then in bottle - yields the luxurious, well-rounded flavors that define Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon.

In 1999, the Duncan Family, founders of Silver Oak, combined their standard of excellence with Winemaker Daniel Baron's knowledge of classical winemaking techniques to create Twomey Cellars. Twomey originated in a single Napa Valley vineyard, the Soda Canyon Ranch, where Merlot grows with such extraordinary complexity that it calls for a wine of its own. The marriage of classical French winemaking techniques and an extraordinary California vineyard result in Twomey's distinctive, complex and luscious Merlot.

Box Gift Set Includes:

  • Twomey Cellars Napa Valley Merlot
A robust, yet elegant wine that balances intense fruit with suppleness. It has a smooth, velvety mouth-feel and a lovely finish of black fruits and violets.
  • Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
A rich wine that achieves a beautiful balance of concentration and finesse. It offers a seamless, harmonious progression of fruit, chocolate and black tea tones.

The tomey is under rated. Both wines were a joy.

2004 AV Silver Oak lives up to rep - 12/27/2008
I would buy this wine again
I purchased this as part of a gift set. It was well priced and I wanted to try the silver oak. We opened, decanted and enjoyed the wine with a steak and I was surprised at how good it was. Perfect note of berries and pepper. Subtle tannins and a great finish. I am partial to french wines but this was a perfect choice for the evening and lived up to the hype for AV SO

  Top Quality - 12/30/2007
I would buy this wine again
Silver Oak Cabernet was top quality. One of the very best I've tasted (for under $60 per bottle) Twomey merlot was very good but not worth the money. Their cellaring ability was also touted but I din't test that part :-)

Kosher wine
Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.
Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
Green wine
Green Wines
Wines that use sustainable, organic and/or biodynamic practices in the vineyard and/or winemaking process. We rely on a number of U.S. and International certifications to qualify wines "green."
